A Found Sound Activity
Do you remember back in the fall when we watched the STOMP movie? Here is the link if you want to watch it again.
Do you remember some of the objects they used as musical instruments?
Some examples: towels, buckets, apples, cards, water, lunch boxes, brooms, pots and pans…
This week, I would like you to find three objects around your house or in your backyard. I’d like to you make a rhythm with these objects. Right before March break, you used Nursery rhymes to make rhythms on the drums. You could use nursery rhymes, or the lyrics from your favourite song.
For example, try clapping these words:
a)Humpty dumpty sat on a wall, humpty dumpty had a great fall
b)I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road
I'm gonna ride till I can't no more (Old Town Road)
c)Never had a friend, never had a friend (Aladdin)
So here’s your mission…
1)Find three objects that make an interesting sound to you
2)Choose some lyrics that you like and that you think are catchy
3)Use the objects to make rhythms using the words as your guide. Rather than clapping them out, you’ll be performing them on your ‘instruments’.
4)You can use one object at a time. Or, you can see if you can use two or three of the objects in your ‘song’.
5)If you had fun, do this again with new lyrics or new objects!
Here’s a video of me showing you an example…
